Hangzhou will unveil a large-scale botanical garden spanning over 74 acres, along with other new attractions, all set to open this year.
The botanical garden is part of the larger Chaoshan-Dingshan Lake Conservation Initiative, which aims to elevate the Chaoshan Scenic Area, a national 4A-level tourist attraction in Linping district, renowned for its plum blossoms. By the time the 2025 Plum Blossom Season arrives, visitors will enjoy a fully revitalized experience. The transformation began in Jun 2023, with significant progress underway.
The project includes upgrades to several key areas: the East, North, and South Gardens, the Western Entrance, the mountain electric car path, and the Zhangshan Fangfei area--where the new botanical garden will be situated.
The East and North Gardens opened before the 2024 Plum Blossom Festival, and the Western Entrance welcomed visitors in October 2024. Currently, the mountain electric car path, the Zhangshan Fangfei area, and the South Garden are nearly finished, with final touches underway.
One of the most exciting additions is the botanical garden, which combines natural beauty with educational activities. It is designed as a space for agricultural tourism and outdoor learning, featuring nearly 20 plant varieties, including camphor trees, cherry blossoms, cole flowers, wisteria, and more. It is set to become a must-visit spot for locals and a fantastic location for photo enthusiasts.
The Zhangshan Fangfei area is preparing for its opening, and the nearby Southern Garden, covering about 130 acres, will feature a relaxing countryside atmosphere. This area will feature attractions such as Haiyun Cave, the Four Seasons Farm, and the restored Yao Yuqin Memorial Hall.
