Hangzhou’s new landmark, Yuhu Lake in Liangzhu New City, officially opened to the public on Nov 4.
Spanning 113 acres, the lake offers residents a new destination for leisure, fitness, and entertainment, significantly enhancing the urban quality and landscape appeal of this key development area.
The opening encompasses phases one and two of the project, showcasing a lakeside setting with a vibrant mix of attractions, including an art gallery, marketplace, camping areas, and other distinctive venues. This “art gallery without ceilings or walls” combines diverse elements such as commerce, cultural arts, ecological wetlands, technological innovation, and recreational sports. The lake complements other Liangzhu landmarks, weaving a vibrant tapestry of culture and art.
With Yuhu Lake’s opening, Liangzhu New City aspires to become a benchmark for integrating industry, urban development, and cultural spaces.
In recent years, Yuhang District has been advancing the Liangzhu Cultural Corridor to promote the “Liangzhu, Testimony to China’s 5,000 Years of History” brand, aiming to position Liangzhu New City as a key center in Hangzhou. The area is cultivating business and waterfront economies around Yuhu Lake, supporting the growth of Liangzhu’s commercial core to solidify its role as the emerging “new center” of northern Hangzhou.
