On July 30, the Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway began its trial operation, marking a significant step closer to its official launch.

The Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway starts at Tongludong Station in Tonglu County and extends southward into Jinhua before entering Taizhou with a stop at Xianju Station. The line then continues into Wenzhou, where it stops at Nanxijiang Station, Wenzhoubei Station, and finally reaches Wenzhounan Station. Spanning a total length of 260 kilometers, the railway is designed for a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest rail connection between Hangzhou and Wenzhou once operational.

The railway also connects with the Huzhou-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway at Tongludong Station, allowing direct service to Hangzhouxi Station. This means that if passengers depart from Hangzhouxi Station, they can reach Wenzhou in just over an hour traveling on the new high-speed railway.

Currently, most high-speed trains between Hangzhou and Wenzhou pass through Ningbo or Jinhua, covering a longer distance and requiring two to three hours for the journey. The trial operation is expected to last about a month, with the railway anticipated to be ready for service by the end of August.

This new high-speed rail line will also greatly benefit residents along the route. People living in Pujiang, Dongyang, and Pan’an will be able to board high-speed trains at their local stations, while Hangzhou residents can enjoy direct high-speed train service to popular destinations like Hengdian. With stations in Pujiang, Pan’an, and Xianju, the railway will bring these counties into the “high-speed rail era”, enabling direct high-speed train service from Hangzhou to these areas.
