On June 16, I had the pleasure of attending a screening of the film Black Dog at the Ximu Cinema in Hangzhou, an event wonderfully organized by Hangzhoufeel. It was a fantastic opportunity that exceeded my expectations. The experience was made even more enjoyable with complimentary snacks and drinks, as well as the chance to take a small tour of the cinema, where we discovered fascinating insights, particularly about the history of cinema and the film industry in China.

Directed by Guan Hu, the film itself was captivating, highlighting a touching story of friendship between the protagonist and his dog. I was particularly fascinated by the film’s visual elements, including the stunning cinematography and colors. Additionally, Eddie Peng, the protagonist, delivered an extraordinary performance, evoking powerful emotions despite having few lines of dialogue.

Overall, it was a memorable experience that was more than just entertainment. It deepened my understanding of both Chinese film and its contemporary history, and left me with a richer perspective on the interconnection between cinema and societal dynamics.
