Recently, the Hangzhou-Haining Intercity Railway is under an extending construction westward as the Wenzheng Street Station greening migration began. This signals the commencement of the West Extension Project, a significant milestone in railroad infrastructure building.

The project, spanning approximately 1.02 kilometers, starts from the planned Wenzheng Street Railway Station and terminates at but excludes Linpingnan High-Speed Railway Station. Laid underground, the new railroad initiates a new Wenzheng Street Railway Station connecting to Hangzhou Metro Line 18. It is designed with a speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour.

Of notable importance is the seamless transfer at Wenzheng Street Railway Station, where the Hangzhou-Haining Intercity Railway is connected to Hangzhou Metro Line 18. This extension of the intercity railway system is poised to enhance the connectivity of the Hangzhou railroad network that is made up of the local lines, express ways, and the pivotal Linpingnan High-Speed Railway Station. The integration of transportation routes within the Hangzhou metropolitan area is anticipated, resulting in an improved accessibility and shortened travel time between Haining and Hangzhou.
