Hangzhou has launched a series of policies to welcome Hangzhou Asian Games and promote economic growth.
In the short term, an integrated modern transportation system is expected to be built by 2027, which will take convenience, efficiency, environmental protection and safety into full account. The system will enable residents to commute within one hour from one end to the other end of the city, reaching another city in the Yangtze River delta within two hours, and arriving in some main cities of the country within three hours. In the long run, Hangzhou is expected to be built into an international transportation hub with a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network.
Among the eight landmark projects is the Hangzhou international airport upgrading program. In addition to improving the operational efficiency of the existing route network, the program will expand routes to central and eastern Europe, Africa and North America. Over 70 international destinations will be activated worldwide and a 72-hour airfreight network will be created. By 2027, the passenger throughput and the cargo throughput of Hangzhou international airport will exceed 50 million and 1.5 million tons per year, respectively, meeting the international standards.
In addition, the improvement project of the Zhejiang section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal will focus on rebuilding the 197-kilometer tertiary channel of the Qiantang River and the Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal. By building multiple modern ports and improving water tourism facilities, Hangzhou will create a multi-level inland waterway passenger route network.
Furthermore, a traffic safety governance system that can meet the demands of megacities will be established by 2027, ensuring the smooth flow of domestic and international logistics supply chains.
