Mar 6 marks the 200-day countdown of the fifth World Congress of Biosphere Reserves (WCBR), which will be held from Sep 22 to 25. The main venue of the congress will be set in Hangzhou, with Lin’an district playing a key role. Additionally, Lin’an will serve as an ecological inspection site for professionals from 759 biosphere reserves across 136 countries and regions. This is the first time the congress to be held in China, and outside of Europe and the Americas.

Seizing the opportunity, Lin’an aims to tell China’s ecological story to the world.

The under-construction Tianmu Future Valley will be the venue for the international meetings. Among its facilities, an eco-museum highlights the charm of various ecosystems within the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, while also presenting a comprehensive display of Lin’an’s ecological resources.

Yueqiao Village, one of the inspection sites, has undergone continuous new rural construction since 2010. This includes widening village roads, relocating overhead power lines, improving backstreet alley, creating beautiful courtyard, and constructing rural park. This year, the village has also initiated the transformation of several micro-landscapes. Even the villagers are decorating their courtyards with various plants, vegetables, and fruits.

Lin’an has launched a recruitment plan to select 100 volunteers for the congress. If you are proficient in foreign languages, you are sincerely invited to join the “Little Walnut” volunteer service team after professional training.
