The 18th Hangzhou Cultural & Creative Industry Expo, set to run from Oct 17 to 21, will feature the International Cultural and Art Exchange Exhibition and exchange activities for countries along the Belt and Road.

Themed “Ingenuity Horizon”, the art exchange activity will draw cultural and artistic industries from 26 nations, including Egypt, Germany, the USA, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, and others. A variety of interactive displays and performances will offer a taste of the initiative’s diverse allure.

The event is divided into four sections:

“Pharaonic Footprint”, the Egyptian national theme exhibition, features the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, cultural and creative brands, and intangible cultural heritage crafts. Notably, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization will make its debut in China, with artist Mohsen Riad demonstrating the art of papyrus painting.

“Echo” is an international ceramic art exhibition showcasing works from 24 artists across China, Germany, the USA, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, South Korea, and Japan. The exhibition covers a variety of art forms, including ceramic vessels, sculptures, installations, and paintings.

“Floating Living Room” offers immersive living room scenes inspired by India and Africa, giving visitors an authentic taste of these exotic cultures.

“Global Inspiration” is a market featuring artists and craftsmen from 11 countries, with highlights such as French ceramics, Polish amber designs, Bulgarian folk items, and charitable crafts from Thailand’s Karen long-neck tribe.

Celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations, the 2024 China-France Drama Communication will welcome the founding family of the renowned Avignon Festival. Known as the “Olympics of Theater”, the festival will bring its plays to Hangzhou, showcasing French dramatic culture through performances and exchanges.

Alan Barbin-Sorano, an actor from the family of Daniel Sorano, a prominent figure in the great generation of the Théâtre National Populaire (TNP) at the Avignon Festival, will present Ce soir j'ai mouillé 10 chemises (Tonight I Have Moistened 10 Shirts). This Avignon Festival production will be performed twice daily.

Additionally, an immersive theatrical venue on the second floor of Pavilion B will host a costume show that bridges Pernes-les-Fontaines with Hangzhou. This experiential exhibition is open to all, warmly inviting you to enjoy the excitement of “costume transformation”.
