“Create Hangzhou”, a cultural and creative industry promotion platform, is committed to promoting the innovative designs rooted in Chinese traditional culture to the world since its inception in 2013.

In the first half of this year, “Create Hangzhou” made appearances with cultural creations in Tokyo, Bangkok, London, and Florence. This September, it returned to Tokyo and Paris. Looking ahead, the platform plans to expand its footprint across more countries, merging Song Dynasty aesthetics with contemporary designs to shine on a broader stage.

From Sep 4 to 6, a selection of Chinese cultural creations was showcased at the 98th Tokyo International Gift Show Autumn 2024. This exhibition was organized by the “Create Hangzhou” cultural and creative industry promotion platform.

The 2024 Chun’an Cultural and Creative Boutique Tour - Japan Exhibition kicked off simultaneously, showcasing handcrafted cultural and creative products from Chun’an, which captivated many participating businesses and attendees. The Japan stop of the “Song Dynasty Legacy” exhibition brought together several notable brands. These companies highlighted a unique blend of Song Dynasty cultural elements with modern design at the event.

Meanwhile, in Paris, the Maison&Objet Design Award China, launched by Maison&Objet Paris trade fair, focuses on innovation and creativity in the home furnishings industry. As part of the 2024 Paris Design Week’s China-themed segment, the 2024-2025 season of the Maison&Objet Design Award China has attracted over 300 submissions from various design fields. Of these, 111 projects have been shortlisted. Maison&Objet Design Award China has selected 77 art works, which are on display in Paris from Sep 5 to 9.

The award recommendation mechanism of “Create Hangzhou” cultural and creative industry promotion platform focuses on the display and promotion of cultural creative products with profound cultural heritage and creative design concepts.

During the Maison&Objet Fall edition in Paris, “Create Hangzhou” presented an innovative display of traditional craftsmanship from Hangzhou, resembling a curated store of Chinese traditional crafts and cutting-edge designs. The exhibition, centered on the iconic Chinese dragon (Loong), symbolized good fortune and cultural heritage. By blending the ancient and modern, East and West, this exhibit demonstrated the cultural continuity and creative potential of China’s traditional arts. The display was divided into two themes: Oriental Retro and Contemporary Design, with outstanding original brand works seamlessly integrated throughout.

Shu Chang, head of “Create Hangzhou”, said that the platform has spent the last decade promoting Chinese traditional culture and innovative design brands globally. Having made its mark in 13 countries, it has helped over 500 design enterprises venture abroad.
