A new pedestrian bridge at the intersection of Binkang Road and Jucai Road in Binjiang district has officially opened for trial operation.

Inspired by the elegance of Hangzhou silk, the bridge’s design mimics two intertwined ribbons when viewed from above. The main span stretches approximately 176.6 meters in length and varies in width from 5.5 to 13 meters, covering a total area of about 1,400 square meters. The bridge is I-shaped in plan view, with its main structure comprising continuous steel box girders.

Each of the bridge’s four entrances, situated at the corners of the intersection, is equipped with steps, escalators, and vertical elevators. Additionally, the bridge provides seamless access to Jucai Road Station on Metro Line 5.

Hangzhou has built several distinctive pedestrian bridges, predominantly in Binjiang district. These new bridges not only help alleviate traffic congestion but also cater to pedestrian needs by offering special seating areas for rest.
