A promotional event for Hangzhou cultural tourism was held at Park Hyatt Zurich, Switzerland on July 9, during which the international tourism program “Hangzhou, a Window to China’s 5,000-year History” was launched. Nearly 120 guests from Switzerland’s culture and tourism industry, local media, and representatives from Hangzhou attended the event.
Xu Xiaolin, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Hangzhou Municipal People’s Congress, attended the meeting and stated that Hangzhou aims to use this event as an opportunity to deepen friendly exchanges with Zurich and continuously promote cooperation in cultural heritage preservation, tourism market development, high-tech industry development, and modern city construction. These efforts aim to enhance local exchanges and cooperation, fostering new developments in relations between the two countries.
Wang Meng, director of the Tourism Office of the People’s Republic of China in Zurich, praised in his speech that this promotional event was the largest, had the best atmosphere, and was the most practical and effective among the promotions held in Zurich in recent years.
With the theme “Hangzhou, a Window to China’s 5,000-year History”, the event showcased Hangzhou’s 5 millennia of history and culture and the 500 miles of green water on both sides of the city’s three major rivers (the Xin’an River, the Fuchun River and the Qiantang River). It highlighted the city’s three major World Heritage Sites: the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, the Grand Canal, and West Lake. Other iconic landscapes include the Xixi Wetland, the Qiandao Lake, and the Qiantang River. The event especially showcased Hangzhou’s leisurely lifestyle, such as drinking Longjing Tea, enjoying Hangzhou cuisine, wearing silk clothes, carving seals, and the recent hit of “City Walk”. This comprehensive presentation of Hangzhou as a city of love, digital economy, innovation, and vitality was brought to life for the guests.
