If you find yourself in the awkward situation of needing to use the restroom but being unable to locate one in metro stations, worry no more! All stations across the Hangzhou Metro network now offer a "Restroom Convenience Card" to help you out.
In 2021, Hangzhou Metro trialed the "Restroom Convenience Card" at select stations, primarily on major transfer hubs with heavy passenger load. However, many passengers were unaware of this highly practical service. Feedback from staff at busy stations like Fengqi Road and Qianjiang Road indicated that the card was used 30 to 40 times per day on average.
The Card serves as proof for passengers who have already entered the station, allowing them to exit and use the restroom, following a "one person, one card, one exit, and one entry" system.
Whether you're inside the station after swiping your metro card or traveling on the train, you can simply head to the customer service center to get the Restroom Convenience Card. It allows you to exit through the side gates of the customer service center and re-enter the station afterward.
For platforms equipped with restrooms, you can locate them by checking the station name signs on platform pillars and following the directional arrows. Additionally, clear directional signage is available in station halls or entrances, including comprehensive information maps positioned along the walls, facilitating rapid identification of restroom locations.
This initiative aims to enhance passenger experience and convenience while traveling on the Hangzhou Metro, ensuring passengers have easy access to restroom facilities whenever needed.
