In a recent milestone event, the signing ceremony for the Fuchun River Film and Television Base project unfolded in Hangzhou's Tonglu county, signaling the birth of a world-class film town along the picturesque Fuchun River.
With a staggering total investment of 6 billion yuan, the project's first phase will witness an initial injection of 2.2 billion yuan. Nestled in the county's Jiangnan town, the comprehensive film and television base aims to cover a sprawling land area exceeding 2,000 mu (329 acres), with the inaugural phase occupying 500 mu (82 acres). The project's primary objective is to establish "one academy, one base", synergizing the region's rich humanistic and scenic resources with cutting-edge modern film and television branding.
The cornerstone of the "one academy" component is the Huace Film and Television Technician College, poised to become the nation's pioneer institution dedicated to film and television arts technicians.
Meanwhile, the "one base" segment is envisioned as the globe's exclusive river-view film and television shooting facility. Capitalizing on the historical and cultural allure of the city juxtaposed against the contemporary splendor of the metropolis, the base will specialize in mountain and water outdoor shooting, coupled with state-of-the-art high-tech special effects production. The overarching goal is to craft the nation's most aesthetically pleasing national river film and television shooting base, featuring tidal wetland, picturesque rural landscapes, beautiful campus settings, and a cutting-edge digital studio.
Beyond its immediate scope, the project aspires to transform Tonglu into a "world-class cultural and tourism destination along the 'three rivers and two banks'".
This vision includes the creation of 20 super film and television IP scene experience projects, operationalizing the "Thousand Years of Poetry and Painting - Fuchun River Film and Tourism Audio-Visual Immersive Experience" initiative, and leveraging digital VR and physical effects to develop film and television technology real-scene experience projects. The ultimate aim is to position Tonglu as a comprehensive outdoor shooting base for film and television, marking a significant leap forward in the region's cultural and entertainment landscape.
