A 27-year-old man named Sun Punan from Hangzhou's Fuyang district has just set a new Guinness World Record for kneeling high jump, leaping an impressive 76 centimeters (29.92 inches). This accomplishment breaks the previous record of 70.16 centimeters set by Tyler Lutz of the United States in 2021.

Sun, a sports influencer on social media, has been actively engaging in physical exercises since his school days, dedicating more than 300 days each year to staying fit. He first tried his hand at kneeling high jump in 2019 and quickly realized his talent for it.

Kneeling high jump is a relatively obscure sport that demands significant strength and flexibility. Participants must kneel on the ground with their ankles and toes flat against the surface, using the power of their hips to propel themselves to a designated height while maintaining an upright position.

Sun said that this sport is much more challenging than it looks, as many people may struggle to stand up from a kneeling position, let alone leaping into the air.
