Quickly garnering more than $53.2 million in just three days, One and Only (《热烈》in Chinese) has soared to be one of the blockbusters in the competitive summer box- office season.
The film takes the 19th Asian Games as background, and break dancing, a new official competition event in the Games, as the theme. The movie stars Huang Bo as a street-dance veteran, following the character's encountering with a young talent, portrayed by a pop idol star Wang Yibo, whom he invites to join his club. When pursuing their dreams, they have faced unforeseen challenges.
The movie was shot in Hangzhou, showcasing not only the visually stunning spectacles, but also the city's landmarks and sceneries. The map stretches out in front of the audience as the story unfolds with a combination of traditional old streets and modern features.
Following the movie to tour around Hangzhou would be an inspiring discovery in late summer. Here are some of the highlighted places in the movie.
Hangzhou Grand Theater
The opening street dance competition was held in the open space in front of the theatre. As one of the landmarks of Hangzhou, InterContinental Hangzhou stands like a golden sun on the banks of the Qiantang River in contrast to the crescent-shaped theatre.
Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center
Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center makes a grand entrance in the climax scene at the end of the film. This year, the center will host the opening and closing ceremonies of Hangzhou Asian Games as well as the track and field events.
Laxi Street
At the beginning of the film, the protagonist performs street dance part-time to earn money to pay for the family debt in Laxi Street, which is popular among young people for plentiful tasty snacks sold on the street.
West Lake Long Bridge
In the film, the West Lake Long Bridge is the place where dancers run across during their outdoor training. Located on the south bank of the West Lake and close to Leifeng Pagoda with a beautiful surrounding environment, this scenic spot is especially charming when street lights are turned on at night.
Shining City Li Xing
The roof of Shining City Li Xing witnesses the mentoring relationship between protagonists and the dance practice of the whole team. Situated on the Southern Song Imperial City Relics at Phoenix Mountain, it was originally the venue of Hangzhou Cigarette Factory. After reconstruction, while retaining the original industrial space, it has turned into a fashion commercial complex.
