New transportation upgrades have been implemented in Hangzhou for the upcoming Asian Games.

The Fuxing Intelligent EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) for the 19th Asian Games has had its inaugural test ride at Hangzhouxi Station. This train will play a crucial role in facilitating transportation during the sporting event, connecting Hangzhou with the co-host cities of Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing, and Huzhou.

Specifically designed for the hilly terrain of Zhejiang, the train employs innovative technology to mitigate vibrations during the ride. The onboard automatic pressure and temperature regulation system alleviates the discomforts caused by the changes in air pressure, such as ear ringing and ear aching. The train also boasts comprehensive 5G+Wi-Fi coverage and features an accessible compartment for the disabled, where facilities such as barrier-free restrooms and wheelchair storage areas are equipped.

Additionally, the trial operation of the intercity train from Hangzhounan Station to Ningbo Station has commenced, offering a flat fare of 20 yuan for the entire ride, sparing the need of booking tickets. This intercity route spans 147 kilometers, encompassing seven stations, namely, Ningbo, Yuyao, Shangyu, Didang, Shaoxing, Qianqing, and Hangzhounan. The whole trip takes approximately two hours. While intercity trains may be slower than the Fuxing high-speed trains, as the ticket prices are so low. Passengers can easily access to the service via their WeChat or Alipay QR codes or by purchasing single-trip tickets at the window.
